When the Kids are Away the Parents will Play

I was sprawled out on my couch after a long day of toddlers watching Survivor last week when I got a text from my mother-in-law. She went something like: can I have all of your 673 kids all weekend long and I went something like:

As soon as the last daycare kid left Friday, we loaded up our three animals, drove to meet their Grammy, switched vehicles and peaced-out.

We stuffed our faces at Buffalo Wild Wings with some friends. Waylon tried to get a student discount and the waiter looked at us like he thought maybe we were hiding an eighteen-year-old under our table. Then said no.

Next up was the Walls of Terror haunted house. Which I guess isn’t really a house, it’s outside but haunted outside sounds dumb because it is. Anyhoo, we were with two other couples and one of the other girls may or may not have pooped in her pants when she heard the chainsaw. We all survived and it was well worth the 10 bucks to get in.

About that time I received the sweetest pictures of the weekend. My babies crashed out for the night. I mean, of course I love it when they’re sleeping soundly at home because my house goes from a small circus to peaceful. That’s when I’m able to sit on my couch and blog or watch TV or stalk contestants of the Bachelor on Insta. But it made me just as happy to see how cozy they were at Gram & Pap’s.  vance-sleepingmila-sleepingbella-sleeping

Flash forward to Saturday and I didn’t get out of bed until 10 a.m.. Then literally stayed on the couch until 7 p.m. when I decided to get my act together. We binged on Shameless, Zac Efron’s new moviemike-and-dave

which was the funniest thing ever, Saved by the Bell and then Homeward Bound. Yessss Homeward Bound and it.was.awesome. There was a Relay for Life fundraiser in Malden so I put on my new duds I got from a friend’s online boutique. Check out her Facebook page Pure Blush Affair for some super cute clothes! I jumped on this tunic as soon as she posted it and loved it even more when I put it on. SOOOO comfy and soft.

You can just go ahead and realize all my mirrors are dirty. Because kids.

I think my favorite part of this night was watching a group of 21 year old girls having the time of their lives next to the jukebox (if you’re reading this, yes I’m awkward and creepy but if you’ve read like one thing I’ve ever said, you already know this). Their energy, their clothes, their not giving a shhhh who was watching them dance. Loved it. I wanted to suck the energy and youth out of em likehocus-pocu

But instead I just went home an hour past my bedtime and slept until my cat woke me up barfing on my shirt.

All in all, perfect weekend and much needed. By Sunday morning I couldn’t wait to get my hands on those babies. They jumped right back into asking for milk every three seconds and pulling the cat around by her tail within a matter of minutes.
